Hi! Welcome to my small business. I’m Melanie, the maker and creative mind behind MLT Design.
Everything you see here, and at my market stalls, is thoughtfully handcrafted by me in Melbourne, Australia. I work primarily with sterling silver, copper and a beautiful selection of gemstones, each chosen with care and with many creative ideas in mind.
While I’m yet to take the leap into working with gold, it’s definitely on the cards for the near future. If you’ve found a piece you love and would like to see it made in gold, please reach out — I’d love to start that journey with you.
My Story
My journey into jewellery making has been a long and creative one. I’ve always been someone who loves making things. As a child, I was constantly trying something new — from knitting and ceramics to visual arts. As I grew older, that creative curiosity led me to jewellery making and photography.
MLT Design came to life as I became more invested in creating, sharing and selling my jewellery. What started as a creative passion has grown into a small business that allows me to continue learning, experimenting and bringing my ideas to life.
From my very first silversmithing workshop, I was hooked. There’s something incredibly rewarding about working with your hands and transforming a simple piece of metal into something unique and wearable.
Since then, I’ve continued to build my skills through wax carving workshops and by spending a week learning and working alongside another jeweller. Every experience has taught me something new, and jewellery making is a journey I know I’ll continue to learn from as my skills grow and evolve.
At the heart of MLT Design is the joy of creating something special and meaningful by hand.
